Michael Smith is a veteran singer, songwriter and performer. His eclectic blend of original music spans folk and Americana to adult alternative, with seasonings of classic rock and country mixed in here and there. While the songs on his self-titled 2006 release The Michael Smith Band are rooted more in country and folk, the music of Smith's follow-up (to be released later this year) falls somewhere between The Beatles, Dave Matthews, and Yes. Smith is an accomplished guitarist in addition to being a prolific writer and lyricist. His songs are poignant, touching, and made with a sincerity that is a rare find in today's music world.
Singer / Songwriter / Neighbor / and Good Friend / Michael Smith pays tribute to American soldiers in Iraq, “nabs L.A. Music Awards nomination.” The video has been nominated by the L.A. Music Awards, which will hold its next red-carpet ceremony on November 12, 2009 at the Music Box Theater. Al Bowman, executive producer of the L.A. Music Awards, describes Smith as an “exceptional singer/songwriter who makes good music continuously.” According to Bowman, Smith “represents exactly what we are looking for in an artist.”
